I have tried hockey pucks under speakers - NOTHING - I have also tried Ayre/Cardas myrtle wood blocks (which work under components) but under my speakers, they degraded the sound and shot the soundstage to hell.
I've tried all sorts of cones - metal - composite - carbon fiber - you name it, under my speakers, and they all worked in varying degrees - but in my opinion - in my system. nothing has worked nearly so successfully as SYMPOSIUM SVELTE SHELVES AND ROLLERBLOCK JR'S.
I don't find the need to further isolate my components. My equipment racks are Arcici Suspense Racks - which suspend all the shelves on rods, supported by inflated rubber inner-tube devices, and they isolate the components very successfully - except - I do use Goldmund cones or myrtle blocks under my CD/SACD players to keep any vibration from transferring to other components on the rack.
I've had the Arcici Racks for over 10 years and they continue to perform extraordinarily well. They were first reviewed in The Absolute Sound, and Harry Pearson used them exclusively in his own systems (may well still use them - I don't know). The only thing necessary to keep these racks at top performance is to check the "tire pressure" occasionally.
What I am saying is that Hockey Pucks may not be a universal answer for everyone - at least they aren't for me.
